Meet Kaptay Annamária and Poisson-Angeli Barbara, two dynamic young entrepreneurs who are not only building successful businesses but also shaping a greener, more sustainable future. Their latest collaboration marks a special milestone—the planting of their 15,000th tree.
Five years ago, their journey began with the planting of just a few hundred trees, which coincided with the launch of the first collection under the MARI brand. Since then, both women have consistently pursued their goals, one of which is to make Hungary greener and create a more livable planet. They are also passionate about educating society on the importance of environmental protection and staying close to nature.
As friends, entrepreneurs, wives, and women, they share a commitment to creating high-quality, sustainable products. Their latest collection features 100 limited-edition pieces, each designed with embroidered motifs of native Hungarian tree species. What makes these pieces even more special is the unique number embroidered on each item, representing the individual tree planted with every purchase. All garments are made from sustainable materials, and every purchase includes the planting of a tree dedicated to the buyer.
These women are unstoppable. Their determination to continue improving the environment is evident in their goal to plant at least ten times as many trees in the future. Their efforts will leave a legacy of oxygen, shade, life, and a brighter future for the planet.
The Plant A Tree Project, founded by Poisson-Angeli Barbara in 2019, is a Hungarian environmental initiative aimed at combating climate change through reforestation. So far, the project has planted over 60,000 saplings in areas such as Nyíradony and Biatorbágy, with current planting efforts taking place near Baja. The trees not only purify the air and clean the water but also restore soil health. Additionally, the new forests create habitats for local wildlife, promoting biodiversity and helping to restore nature’s delicate balance.
What sets the Plant A Tree Project apart is its personalized approach. Every tree planted is individually tagged with the name of the person or company sponsoring it. Each tree is also photographed, and the image is sent electronically to the donor, providing a lasting memento of their contribution to the planet. Plantings take place twice a year, in spring and autumn, under the guidance of environmental experts. The long-term goal of the project is to create forests that endure for generations, continuously protecting the environment while mitigating the effects of climate change.
